Professor Timo Vesala from the University of Helsinki in Finland Visits Xishuangbanna Tropical Botan
On February 6th, Professor Timo Vesala from the University of Helsinki in Finland led a 7-member team to visit the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (XTBG). Fan Zexin, Deputy Director of XTBG, attended the forum.
At the forum, both parties introduced the development overview and key research directions of their respective institutions. Timo Vesala shared the construction experience and observation results of the Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS) in Europe, and the researchers from XTBG presented the research progress in the fields of global change, plant physiological ecology and other related areas.
During the visit, Professor Timo Vesala's team conducted on-site inspections of the rubber forest flux observation tower, the artificial rainforest, and the Bubang Workstation of the Xishuangbanna Ecological Station, among other facilities.
Both sides reached a consensus to deepen cooperation in research fields such as carbon sink monitoring, plant physiological ecology and global change, with a focus on advancing the construction of scientific research platforms and the joint training of young scholars and postgraduate students.
